Do You Need Permits Or Vaccinations To Visit Angola
When you visit a country that is not your home country, you may be nervous especially when there are travel warnings about the country you are going to. 99% of the time visits to Angola are just fine, you will want to stay away from the remote areas where there is nothing around but forest but otherwise you will be ok. Check with the Embassy of Angola website to find out if there are any updates on travel warnings. In the event that it is safe to travel and you are planning your trip, there are some things that you need to know about gaining entry into the country as well as existing the country.
Any country including Angola has the right to refuse entry to anyone they believe is a danger to their country. Most countries including Angola has very special requirements that they follow when it comes to denying access into the country. This mainly applies to those who plan on remaining in the country for more than 90 days and are there for non-tourism activities. If you check out the Embassy of Angola website, there is a section where you can apply for a Travel Visa online and there is a section where you can print out the application and mail it in.
As we mentioned it takes about 2 weeks so allow 4 or 5 weeks to get your paperwork back. You want to make sure that you have the Visa in plenty of time since you cannot obtain a travel visa at the airport. Once you fill out the application you will need to do the following:
- Original signed United States Passport with 6 months of remaining activity
- Passport Type Photographs include 2 with the application
- Itinerary, this will include a copy of the round trip tickets or a confirmed itinerary if you are booking with a travel agent
- In some cases you will need a Bank Statement, you will need a copy of the most recent months bank statement that shows that you have at least $ 100 per day of your stay in the bank.
- Letter of Invitation: This would be an official letter of invitation from a travel agency in Angola and it must be addressed to The Consulate of Angola, New York. The invitation will be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Angola.
Without these documents you may not be approved for a Visa, consult a travel agent and see if they can provide you with the letter of invitation everything else should be no problem. Along with having the right paper work, your health should be a priority; the only vaccination that is required is the vaccination for Yellow Fever. Then have your doctor write a letter stating that you received your shot and bring that with you to the airport.
